Making Reproducing Disciples of Jesus Christ

Sunday School

Sunday School classes are held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. weekly - between the "early" and "late" worship hours. Questions may be directed to Durwood Morris, Sunday School Superintendent or the church office.

The following is a list of the classes currently available for our children followed by a breakdown of adult-level classes as well.

Infant - A nursery is provided for infants up to 2 years old during the Sunday School hour. The nursery is located on the lower level of the new addition.

Toddler I Class is for those boys and girls who are 2-3 years old. This beginner's class is taught by Mrs. Nancy Carter (Miss Nancy) and is located in the upper level of the new addition in the "Blue Room." It is a friendly environment for boys and girls to begin learning with their peers about Jesus!

Toddler II Class includes an exciting group of boys and girls ages 4-5 years old who are learning more about the Bible, as well as, how to sit still and work together during class time! Their teacher is Mrs. Carolyn Crosby (Miss Carolyn) and they meet in the "Red Room" located in the upper level of the new addition. This class is for children who are pre-kindergarteners.

Primary Class - The Primary Class is especially designed for children in K-1st grades. Their teacher is Mrs. Karen Carpenter (Miss Karen) and they meet together in the "Yellow Room" which is located in the upper level of the new addition.

Middler Class - This great group of 2nd-3rd graders are eager to learn and enjoy getting togther each week. Mrs. Linda Lovegrove (Miss Linda) is their teacher and they meet in the upper level of the new addition in the "Green Room."

Young Disciples/Junior Class is taught by George Etling and includes boys and girls in grades 4-5. They meet for class in 'old chapel basement.' Thought-provoking challenges and Bible lessons keep these students on their toes!

Middle School - Our students in grades 6th-8th grade enjoy learning together during their middle school years. Annette Sites is the teacher for this class which meets in Room #3 located in one of the single-wide trailers on the property. (Note: On the last Sunday of the month, the middle and high school youth meet together in the youth room with Pastor Todd as their teacher.) Additional helpers are needed for this class. To volunteer, please call the church office.

High School - Pastor Todd teaches our 9th-12th graders weekly. Opportunities to serve others, learn more about the Bible and their personal walk with God - while also having times of silly fun keep things going strong! This class meets in the youth building (to the rear of the church) each week and on the last Sunday of the month they welcome the middle school class to join with them as a combined class.

Adult Sunday School - There are several adult-level classes to choose from in addition to the 'Building Blocks Class' mentioned above.

~ NEW! ~ College & Career Class - This summer's elective class was a great success. Watch for details about a possible "Christmas Break" class or two when students are home for the holidays.

Help & Hope for the Single Mom! This once-a-month class is held on the first Sunday of the month and will begin a new quarter on October 3. Karen Carpenter leads this class for the twofold purpose of 1) encouraging moms who are 'parenting alone' and 2) gaining insights from the Bible.

The Open Door Class - This class is comprised of individuals and couples ranging in age from those who have just graduated from high school to young singles and on to young marrieds couples with young children. This class has been exploring all the great Old Testament highlights and some extra stories you may have never discovered on your own! Ronnie & Donna Andrews co-lead this class which is held in the Kid's Cave (upper level of the Christian Education addition). Wendy Wimer will serve as interim teacher beginning Sunday, September 12 for the fall quarter.

The Arthur Pilgrim Class is led by several different Bible teachers. It's Bible Study follows the "Standard Publishing's" quarterly curriculum and they meet in the Arthur Pilgrim Classroom located on the lower level of the new addition. This class is typically attended by the older crowd, but welcomes all ages.

The Be All You Can Be Class gathers together each week in the fellowship hall. Topical studies on Biblical themes are typically taught in this classroom environment. Pastor Denny is currently serving as an interim teacher while Harold Griffin is on a leave of absence.

WOW Class - The Women of the Word Class meets on the last Sunday of each month. They are currently studying the Book of Esther. Annette Sites leads this class of great women (all ages are invited). This once-a-month class is a great option to keep up-to-date with your regular Sunday School class, while also gleaning some great insights from like-minded women.

The Messenger Class is a small-group type of class. They are currently studying the Book of James. Debbie Kauffman and Velma 'Beanie' Griffin lead this discussion and prayer/share group which is held in the 'meeting room' of the church basement (across from the fellowship hall). All ages are represented in this class as well as both men and women.

More for Kids!

Children's Weekly Ministry! "Kid's For Christ" is our weekly Children's Ministry which is held on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:15 p.m. KFC is a special time at the church where boys and girls join together for lots of fun, games, puppets, crafts, stories and surprises. Children 2 years old through 5th graders are invited to join us. KFC will meet in the upper level of the Christian Education Building. Our fall schedule begins on Wednesday, September 22. Come and check us out as we have a great year of science experiments, games, crafts, music, Bible stories and more! Oh, and for adults who want to help us out, we're always looking for volunteers to help us out. If interested in learning more, please contact Angee Thompson.

Children's Church is held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month during both worship hours. Children worship with their parents/guardians in the sanctuary for the first half of the service and then are escorted to the Kid's Cave by Ms. Angee right before the sermon begins. Currently, the boys and girls are learning about the Fruit of the Spirit. Children ages 4 years through 3rd graders are invited to join in on this alternative opportunity to learn about Jesus and the Bible!

Children's Music Ministry!  This great ministry of learning and worship for kids will be 'on vacation' from mid-May through August. Contact Pastor Matt for information about the fall schedule at 337-6411 / x. 223.

For Adults

Men's Morning Prayer is held on Sunday mornings at 5:30 a.m. in the church sanctuary. This time is focused specifically on praying for the Worship hours of the day, the music, the message to be presented as well as uplifting those in our Sunday School ministry and each individual who will be attending on that particular Sunday.

Men's Bible Study - We had some great summer studies, now plans are underway for some additional Bible Studies this fall and/or winter. If you would like to participate in a Discipleship or Bible Study please contact the church office.

Women's Bible Study - Several women's studies typically take place throughout the year on various topics and at different learning levels. See "special events" for more details about women's ministry opportunities.

Discipleship - Both men's and women's classes are held. A two-year intensive study has been in place in years past, and we are considering a short-term format of this material as well for those not quite ready to take the full plunge.

Fellowship - Throughout the year we provide a variety of activities for families, couples, singles and all ages from the fun and silly to the more thought-provoking. Contact the church office to find out more about what is coming up this year!

Mission Opportunities

"Go Into All The World!" As a church we are committed to reaching out beyond Augusta County with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Ways we get involved are as varied as teaching our kids about missions during Vacation Bible School each year to holding monthly update/educational meetings for women and men to sending some of our "own" to make a difference in foreign countries - or even right here in the USA! Recently, teams have gone to both Honduras and West Virginia to make a difference in people's lives. For more information about what is available through efforts with other like-minded churches and how you can get involved beyond our local church efforts, check out www.ubmissions.com.
