Jerusalem Chapel

Making Reproducing Disciples of Jesus Christ

Our Ministry

Then: Jerusalem Chapel's origins date back to 1854 when it was one of several churches included in a circuit touching those in and around Augusta County . The original structure was built sometime around 1900 and two other additions were added - one in the 1950's and one in the 1970's. These early structures were destroyed by fire, however, in May 2006 due to an electrical malfunction in the "old" sanctuary. The current structure was built as an "addition" in 1990. It houses our sanctuary, fellowship hall, kitchen, nursery, classrooms and library. The church office and senior pastor's study were affected by the fire, but are now being assessed for reconstruction. The church facility is currently used for two morning worship hours each Sunday morning as well as hosting a variety of community and church-related events such as concerts, weddings and community outreach. Many pastors have served the fellowship of Jersualem Chapel through the years and we are proud to introduce you to our current pastoral staff.

Now: Pastor Denny Sites is our Senior Pastor, and he has been serving with us since March 1984. Pastor Todd Yoder is our Associate Pastor of Youth and Parents, and he has been with us since September 2003. In October 2007 we welcomed Pastor Matt Hann onto our pastoral team as the Associate Pastor of Pastoral Care & Worship. Our pastors are men who are constantly striving to find effective ways to lead the congregation of the Chapel as well as finding creative ways to touch the lives of individuals within our community. Our goal together is to work together to grow in our spiritual walk personally and then to reach out to others with the love of Christ in practical ways.
