Free Summer Camp for Kids

Rhodes Grove Adapts for 2020As the restrictions are lifted in the State of Pennsylvania, RGC has come up with a creative way to still create a great camping experience for kids. Mini-Day Camps will be held during the month of June. Overnight camps are ‘tentatively’ being planned for the month of July. Check out details about current options and opportunities that you, your kids or your grandkids can enjoy this summer (link listed below)! Please also remember to pray for the camp, their administrators and God’s direction for their continued ministry.

A Little Introduction
Each summer, Jerusalem Chapel provides the opportunity for boys and girls to go to a week of summer camp for free at Rhodes Grove Camp in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Rhodes Grove offers a variety of activities to encourage and challenge the youngest of children through those in their teen years. Campers are encouraged to learn more about God’s Word, to experience new activities, learn to know new friends and possibly even learn a new skill or two – such as archery, horsemanship, swimming, rocketry and on and on. Opportunities are also available for adult and teen staff (ie counselors, wranglers or kitchen crew).

What Is Rhodes Grove Camp? Rhodes Grove is a quality Camp and Conference Center located in south-central Pennsylvania.  It has a long-standing reputation for its sound Biblical teaching, creative opportunities, and high energy activities surrounded by a backdrop of ‘rustic’ charm. Whether accompanying a young child on the campus (in the evenings) or dropping your child off for a week of overnight camp, you and your camper are sure to find Rhodes Grove just the beginning of a wonderful camping experience and opportunity to meet new friends while also growing in your knowledge of the Bible. To contact the campground directly call: 717.375.4162 or visit their website at www.rhodesgrove.com.

Earn Camp Credit! Campers have an opportunity to ‘earn’ their way to a free week of summer camp each year. For students who choose to participate in fundraisers and service projects, credit is earned each time they participate in an activity (see Camper Policy link below).

1st Opportunity for 2020 Camp – ‘Make a Blanket Day’ was held in October 2019. We had a great turnout of campers! Blankets were gifted to adults and children at the Valley Mission in Staunton, VA.

Unfortunately, the other events we had planned to fulfill our 2020 fundraisers had to be cancelled due to COVID19 restrictions. However, we did find some creative ways to have campers ‘earn’ their way to camp by helping with some sorting/cleaning at the church and by creating and delivering some love gifts to those who could use a little boost. We’re proud of our campers and excited for them!

Registration Is Easy!  We are glad that RGC has been able to come up with a new plan for Summer Camp 2020 – in response to COVID19. New camp options and dates have been posted online, and you are encouraged to register campers directly on the RGC website. However, please make a copy of your registration form, if you are applying for camp credit through the Camper Fund, and turn it into the church office asap. Camp credit will be applied, or reimbursed, after all fundraisers/projects have been completed for the camping year.

Camp Fees – All campers can earn credit to pay up to the total base fee to cover the cost to attend a week of camp!  If a camper chooses to purchase a camp video, camp picture and/or signs up for activities that require additional fees, those are the responsibility of the camper.  Also, for Specialty Camps (Horsemanship, Paintball, etc.) we will pay the base camp fee for their age group, and the outstanding balance will be the responsibility of the camper.

Camper Policy Click on the link for more information on how you can ‘earn’ your way to a free (or reduced) week of camp).
